Fun Statistics with Smarties.

The Kiwikids Maths Class had an exciting maths lesson on Statistics. Our inquiry was: What is the most common colour in a small pack of 'Smarties'.
We each moved the lollies into a bar graph on paper and found that each group had different results. Mrs R asked us to find out: What was the most common colour? What was the least common colour? How many Smarties did our pack have altogether? How many colours in our box? Look at our graph can you read which colour was the most common colour across the whole class?

Yummy, we got to eat them all at the end.

My Maths class is fantastic. I was proud of the way you worked with the Smarties. I'll have to think of another fun way to learn about statistics. Perhaps you could leave a comment about what you've learned so far. Keep up the great work!

Well done everyone you look like you're having lots of fun while working very hard. I have done graphing using M&Ms before but not smarties! Lucky you. In Pod 1 this week we were doing writing about NZ tasty treats - marmite sandwiches and then chocolate fish, jaffas, pineapple lumps and Whittaker's chocolate. Look out for our photostory at our assembly coming soon.

I have just had another look at your graph, I am surprised that most colours were equal amounts! But they don't really taste any different because they're all chocolatey. It would be good to try fruit bursts next time!

The Smarties were really yummy. I know that you can group them up and add them all together.
