Rhythm Patterns in Music

Room 10 have been learning about rhythm patterns in music.  We used words about water: plip, spitting, drop, pitter patter, splish splash and whoosh to show different ostinati patterns and laid one over the other to create texture.  Read our comments to hear how we reflected on our practice performance and what we think we could improve on next time.

We need to keep our eyes to the conductor and look if we’re going too fast or if we’re not keeping the beat. KF

We need to try and keep in rows if we do this, we will be better also it will be easier for us to do in class or assembly. M.W.

We should look to the front so that we can see the audience and know what we’re doing.

Very cool poem Room 10! I loved the way you were speaking rhythmically and that you had actions as well which made it interesting to look at. I would enjoy it even more if you had zoomed out on the video camera a bit sooner at the end so that I could see all the sections together for a bit longer. Fantastic!

We were out of time. We should get in time by looking at the front and being ready. RB

If the smallest were at the front they can see better and the audience can see them. P.J.

You rocked at assembly today! I thought you did a really great job of coming in at the right time and keeping in time with your group. I also loved the way you added hand actions to match your part as it made your performance interesting to watch and listen to. Very clever Mrs R and Room 10 :o)

This is great! I am so glad this is on your blog because I wasn't at assembly today so I didn't get to see your performance. It was very interesting to listen to. Well done everyone.

I would suggest using a tripod when you are videoing, that is something I have just learned to do! When I was filming the thank you for Mr Wilkins and Mr Rolfe I used a tripod most of the time but other times I didn't and the picture was much better when I had used the tripod because the image was totally still! Mr G has a great tripod he doesn't mind sharing!
